Vehicles in German City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were alerted by a resident who found a car in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A senior representative said the incident made him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
